Let me tell you a story.

From 2003-2022, as a real estate agent I was cajoled to spend November and December meeting with managers or coaches or mentors setting goals for the following year.

Brian Buffini has his S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Simon Sinek wants me to Start With Why

Any Guru worth his/her salt has a process for writing down goals.

• Closed Volume Goals

• Closed Transaction Goals

• Commission Goals leading to Income Goals

Let me tell you .. those goals — like 91% of New Year Resolutions — were long forgotten by the 3rd week of January.

Let me tell you something else … I’m sick and tired of writing goals just so a mentor or coach or manager can check a box and say “no go accomplish those goals.”

That all changed in 2023 .. based on the information from 2 sources:

• Brian Moran’s 12 Week Year

• 3 MIQ

Brian tasks his readers to create a vision for the future. A vision based on 3 lists: what do want to Have? .. what do you want to Do? .. and what do you want to Be?

With those lists in place, additional exercises develop plans to execute in order to acquire those items on the Have list and/or develop the skills necessary to achieve those items on the Do and Be lists.

In 20-30 minutes, The 12 Week year exercises created a clearer vision of what I’m going to accomplish then 20 years worth of Guru goal writing exercises ever did.
