My name is Nick Chaconas. Just an ordinary guy who decided I wanted something more.
I reached a point where I said ... "My family deserves better. I'm capable of so much more. I'm tired of living a mediocre life as I trade time for money."
That's how it all started. I was sick and tired of the life I was living, with all the wrong dialogue playing on repeat in my head.
In early 2021 I committed to leave the life of "just being a realtor" behind and become a real estate investor .. and to document the journey from brand new real estate investor to having consistent $20,000+ months!
There was a time I wore exhaustion like a badge of honor. Wake at 4:45. Run. Cold plunge. Slam coffee. Take a call. Respond to three emails while I’m still on that first call. Hustle. Grind. Repeat. I ran my life like a chaotic startup and called it “dedication.” Truth? I didn’t control my time. It controlled me.
In the last week, his work has been referenced at least half a dozen times on the podcasts I've listened to .. and this morning while reading Dan Martell's Buy Back Your Time, I came across this statement from James: “Goals are the results we want to achieve. Systems are the processes that lead to those results.” It's like the universe is conspiring to get me to continue to focus on building and refining my processes, rather than fixating on results. Not sure why, but as I write this I'm hearing "If you build it, he will come". Must be another part of my mind telling me to just trust the process.
I’ve been guilty of it before—setting my sights on a big goal and then beating myself up when the results weren’t coming fast enough. The scoreboard didn’t look the way I wanted. My tracker didn't have as many check marks as I thought it should. The bank account didn’t grow as quickly as I’d hoped. The deals weren’t closing on my timeline. And in those moments, Little Nicky would start whispering, “See? Maybe this isn’t working. Maybe you should slow down. Maybe you should do what everyone else is doing.” But then I remember one of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned: The results don’t matter. The work does. This principle that’s been reinforced time and time again by the OG's of personal development: Jim Rohn and Zig Zigler, and more recently, by the likes of David Goggins, Ed Mylett, and Brendon Burchard.
It got me thinking about the journey I started several years ago. This journey has been a profound lesson in patience and understanding the natural cycles of effort and reward. "The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit Early on, I was eager to see immediate results. I poured time and resources into potential deals, expecting quick returns. However, reality taught me that the real estate market doesn't operate on my personal timetable. Sellers didn't respond to calls and messages .. contractors took longer and charged more than promised .. deals fell through .. properties didn't sell as quickly as anticipated .. etc .. etc .. etc. It has been a humbling reminder that, much like farming, investing requires nurturing, time, patience and unwavering dedication before reaping the rewards.
